About Me

My name is Robert Hough, and my story begins in my father’s automotive repair shop. I was surrounded by vehicles and engines being taken apart, which sparked a deep curiosity about what was happening under the hood. That curiosity showed early—one day my parents found me in the backyard with my pedal-car Jeep propped up on two kitchen chairs, using them as a makeshift vehicle lift. I had the Jeep completely taken apart, trying to understand how every piece worked. That moment pretty much summed up who I was going to become...

As I grew older, that curiosity expanded from mechanical systems into electronics and technology. I fell in love with computers—building them, upgrading them, repairing them, and learning how software and hardware work together. That passion naturally led me into programming, web development, and understanding the systems that power modern technology.

After Circuit City closed, I used my experience and passion for electronics to start something of my own. I founded Car Audio & Security, LLC, beginning by installing remote starters, alarms, and audio systems out of my home garage. Through hard work, reputation, and dedication to quality, I grew it into a full commercial storefront offering professional installations and automotive electronics services. Building a business from the ground up taught me independence, customer service, and the value of always doing things the right way.

Over the years, my hands-on experience widened far beyond automotive work. I've worked on commercial overhead doors, high-speed doors, security grills, and automated gate systems, diagnosing mechanical problems, installing new equipment, and handling electrical controls. I’ve also spent time on cell phone tower sites and in data centers performing AC and DC electrical upgrades, battery maintenance, load testing, and full battery system replacements—high-responsibility jobs where precision and reliability matter.

Today, I’m expanding my skills even further. I’ve been learning CAD design and 3D printing, creating custom parts, functional models, and prototypes. I also enjoy working on electronics projects using Raspberry Pis and Arduino microcontrollers, experimenting with sensors, automation, and embedded systems. These projects let me combine creativity, electronics, fabrication, and coding into practical, real-world solutions.

Over time, I’ve built a diverse skill set that connects automotive diagnostics, commercial mechanical systems, electronics, fabrication, computers, electrical work, small business ownership, and software development. Whether I’m diagnosing a wiring issue, designing a 3D-printed part, installing a security system, replacing industrial batteries, or programming a website, I approach every challenge the same way I always have—by breaking it down, understanding how it works, and building it back up even better.

My journey is powered by curiosity, hands-on learning, and a lifelong need to understand how things function. From cars, to circuits, to code, to commercial systems, to 3D-printed designs, I’m always learning, always experimenting, and always improving.
